About us

Who We Are

The Sector Skills Council for Information and Communications Technology (SSC ICT) is an industry-led organisation dedicated to bridging the ICT skills gap in Nigeria. Our focus is aligning ICT training with the industry’s evolving needs to ensure Nigeria’s workforce is well-equipped to thrive in today’s digital economy. By developing National Occupational Standards (NOS), creating industry-relevant qualifications, and promoting practical skills training, we are committed to shaping the future of ICT in Nigeria.

At SSC ICT, we work closely with key stakeholders, including industry leaders, educational institutions, government agencies, and international partners, to create a skills development ecosystem that fosters innovation, productivity, and employability. Through collaboration, we aim to drive sustainable growth in Nigeria’s ICT sector and contribute to the nation’s overall economic development.

Our Objectives

The core objectives of SSC ICT are designed to provide strategic direction for skills development in Nigeria’s ICT sector. These objectives include:

  • Constitute a Robust Governance Structure

Establish an active and engaged board to oversee the council’s operations and set up a dedicated secretariat to ensure smooth day-to-day functioning.

  • Develop and Implement Industry-Relevant Standards and Qualifications

Work with industry experts to create and update National Occupational Standards (NOS) that reflect the evolving demands of the ICT sector. Develop qualifications frameworks that enable learners to acquire the skills needed for employment and career progression.

  • Engage Stakeholders and Foster Partnerships

Build collaborative partnerships with industry leaders, educational institutions, professional bodies, and government agencies. These partnerships ensure that the council’s activities are aligned with the broader needs of the sector.

  • Promote and Facilitate Apprenticeship Programs

Launch apprenticeship and internship programs that provide students and professionals with hands-on experience and exposure to real-world ICT environments. These programs will bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical skills, ensuring graduates are job-ready.

  • Establish Quality Assurance Mechanisms

Develop and implement quality assurance systems to ensure that all training programs meet the highest standards of excellence. Regular evaluations and assessments will ensure that certifications and qualifications remain relevant to the industry's needs.
